Pianos are designed and built to be in tune at concert pitch A-440. Annual piano tuning is required maintenance on any and every acoustic piano, no matter the size, value or age. Some require more depending on environment and use. Because of the design, construction materials and string tension on the instrument it will go out of tune whether or not it is played.
